1:30-2:30 Mindful Learning—(Tom).  Using Pre-Reading, Play and Say and other techniques for the efficient memorization of music and the reduction of confusion and error with sustained concentration.

1:30-2:30 Playing Together—(Ethan) An exploration of techniques un-conducted ensembles use to craft cohesive, meaningful interpretations as a group.

2:30-3:30 Guitar Harmony, Part I—(Alan).  Everything you need to know to about chords: building, recognizing, and relating them to keys.  Activities include writing, reading lead-sheet notation, and chord building challenges.

2:30-3:30 Discovering the Guitar—(Ben). A lecture-based class discussing the history and journey of the guitar to present day, exploring common to advanced practices and uses in encouraging excitement and application for the guitar in today’s time.

4:15- 6:15—Guitar Orchestra (Canyon  Community Center)

1:30-2:30Guitar Harmony Part II—(Alan).  Harmonizing of melodies is taught through a 5-step approach.  Bring your guitar!  Melodies will be provided for students to create their own harmonization projects to share with the class.  (Guitar Harmony Part I is helpful for this class)

1:30-2:30 Intermediate Technique—(Kami).  Introduction of intermediate concepts for the hands (analysis and application).

2:30-3:30Music Business—(Ben).  Lecture/round table introduction to the ins and outs of  Music Business and how to create a network/net-worth. Key topics addressed will be communication, financial freedom, physiology, and social media.

2:30-3:30Learning the Fingerboard—(Alan and Tom).  Break through the open-position barrier, with a step-by-step method that focuses on fixed-positions, scale forms, and visualization. Bring your guitar!

1:30-2:30 Composing and arranging for the Guitar—(Alan).  A demonstration on how to effectively arrange/compose for guitar and guitar ensemble.  Topics include: how to convert a non-guitar work into a guitar work; writing idiomatically for the guitar; arranging tools and resources.

1:30-2:30 Making a living as a guitarist and musician—Kami. Round table discussion about collegiate and career possibilities

2:30-3:30—Sight Reading–(Ethan).  A deeper dive at the mechanics of interacting with musical notation, and consideration of how “music at sight” can be a professional asset.
